Mental toughness...

So, Friday's workout is what we call an AMRAP which stands for as many rounds as possible. What IS possible? That's up to YOU. There's a balance between what your body is capable of and what your mind allows you to do. Yes, I said 'allow'. Often, the mind shuts down the show before the body is really tapped out. An AMRAP workout really tests your mental toughness. It dangles this this unknown out there. You don't know how much work you're going to do. You just know how long you're going to work.

There is a magic feeling of pushing past where your body feels like it's done but your mind says...um, no, I think we have more work in us. When you're all done, you feel like you've reached the top of the mountain instead of turning around before you got to see the view!

  1. Thursday was my 1 year anniversary for Crossfit, so I decided to do the latest Hero Wod to celebrate.

    Magee is 30 min AMRAP
    5 DL @275
    13 push up
    9 box jump

I managed 15 rounds, doing steps after round 4. This was more brutal than Mr. Joshua. All day Friday every muscle in my body hurt, I had a hard time sleeping I was so sore.

    Then another AMRAP.

Part of you wants to cry, but the better part of you laughs. I managed 8 rounds for Friday's Wod with 135 for the cleans. We had a full class, with half the box taken up by the ladies who managed to completely shame the men. Great work!

This was perhaps the most brutal 2 days I've had in my time here, waking up Saturday to work after 5 hours of sleep was truly awful, it took me 2 minutes to even get out of my car when I hit Starbucks.

I can't even explain how much I love this.
