Braggin' Rights

There's nothing more fun for parents than to be able to brag on their children. Below are pictures of our middle child, Duncan, who is 10 years old. He's got a beautiful hang clean. During the recent main site WOD of 7 x hang power clean...Duncan joined in. He managed 40 lbs! He weighs approximately 80 lbs. :) Below is his attempt at 42 lbs. He did fail on this but barely. He'll get it next time. Duncan loves doing CrossFit and faithfully keeps his log. I can't wait to see if all his CrossFit since Christmas has improved his soccer game. We'll know soon as spring season is about to start.

Anyone have any success stories about CrossFit benefitting their children's competitive sports...or any sports for that matter? Let's hear them...brag on your kids too! :)

Some warm-up...working on form.

Duncan with his game-face on.

Beautiful extension...

And awesome shrug!! Next time, he'll get under the bar for the catch.
Way to go, Duncan!!

Filthy Fifty Complete!!

Well, they survived!!

Connie and Gary, all happy now that it's over.

Lisa, dutifully logging her workout into her notebook.

**Out of all the Christmas gifts we gave this year, I think CrossFit Georgetown's gift of Filthy Fifty to our crew was the best one. :)

Filthy Fifty for Christmas

Recently (Christmas Eve morning to be exact) CrossFit Georgetown did Filthy Fifty. The following pictures are from the early morning class with Gary, Connie and Lisa. Gary commented between stations, that it was the hardest workout he'd ever done. Let's see them having fun. :)

Connie's KTEs (knees to elbows)

Dad going for some height.

Love the active shoulders Connie!

I have to do 50 burpees??

Lisa, not messing around with her KB swings.

Lisa taking a moment to consider why she agreed to this.

I love the determination on Connie's face here!

Gary did all 50 KTEs, no scaling. Way to go!

Lisa pushing through her burpees all while designing her "I -don't heart- Burpees" t-shirt.

The Traveling Giant

Gary, Connie and Danny...glad they are done. And, I always thought Connie was tall.
And, I don't consider myself short, so clearly Danny is a giant!

We had our first visitor from another CrossFit join us for a WOD. Danny Wright from Oceanside CrossFit joined us over the holidays, after he harrassed and stalked me (just kidding, Danny!!). It was great to have you visit and I hope you'll come back next time you're in town.
When you all travel, don't hesitate to see if there is an affiliate near by. I'm sure they'd love to have you drop in for a WOD and it's fun to meet other CrossFitters when you're away from home. Also, see if they have and sell t-shirts and collect them all!! :)

The Power of Youth

Here's Jackson doing a clean and jerk WOD. Jackson is working a strength program for his school sports and is already making improvements with a month of CrossFit under his belt.
Fitness, strength and healthy living should not be a fad or a phase. It should be a lifestyle...one which starts young...dare I suggest from day one. Our nation is riddled with overweight, sedentary and thoroughly unhealthy people. Be part of the solution! Help get kids off the couch, out of the chip bag and away from the TV and move them outside to run, throw, kick, push, pull, squat...MOVE their bodies! We owe it to them.

CrossFit Endorphins

Here's David dialing in his clean and jerks. What we love about David is that no matter what mood he shows up in, he always leaves with a huge smile on his face. CrossFit=Mood Enhancer?

Have you ever experienced that surge of endorphins that follows intense physical exercise? Want to know what it feels like? Come visit us and we'll show you.

Great work David!

Winter Lungerland

Here is Molly lunging in the snow while on vacation in Minnesota. This brings up the question...do you stick to your fitness routine while traveling, whether for business or pleasure? How do you stick to your workouts? Do you get creative to make sure a vacation or business trip doesn't sabotage your fitness goals. Tell us how!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
I will post some pictures from our recent workouts over the holidays but first, let me show you our family. From left to right--Ginger, Delaney, Duncan, Greyson and William. A family who does pull-ups together, stays together!! :)
We are finally getting our blog up and running. William and I are so excited about the upcoming year and all that it promises...especially in terms of CrossFit Georgetown. We are already growing and generating new interest so maybe it won't be too long before we can move into a standalone facility. We have our eye on a few locations. So come and join us and we can grow together.
